At Lainesmead, all staff inspire children to discover a passion for life-long learning through making every day memorable. Our children, parents, staff and governors work together in the relentless pursuit of excellence. Lainesmead has determination, a finger on the pulse and a big heart.

Our school curriculum is rooted in reading to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum for all. Our love of stories, poetry, language and books is celebrated throughout the school and helps us to ensure that the curriculum taught to the children is inspiring, enjoyable and reflects the diversity of our school.

As a school we have developed a curriculum which: promotes a love of reading; develops creativity; develops international mindedness; develops ambition; inspires; is relevant to the children at Lainesmead; builds character; encourages children to question and scrutinize; prepares children for their future and builds year on year ensuring knowledge is securely embedded. The curriculum is ambitious and designed to give all pupils the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life.

Securing good relationships is central to achieving our vision. We are a “Thrive Approach” school where developing relationships is core to enabling children to flourish and learn. In June 2023, the school was recognised as a Thrive School of Excellence in its approach to supporting children's social, emotional and mental health needs.  Furthermore, In March 2024, the school achieved an Area of Excellence through Challenge Partners for "Creating an embedded school culture based on the importance of social, emotional and mental health."

We work closely with families and the local community to develop the ethos within the school. We want all children to make a valuable contribution to the life of the school, be it as a ‘Play Leader,’ 'Learning Ambassador,' 'Member of the School Parliament,' ‘Prefect,’ ‘Head Boy or Girl’ or any other number of ways the children are given responsibilities across the school.
