Strive, Achieve, Excel; Believe in a Limitless Future.

Eco-Warriors

Eco-Warriors at Lainesmead help protect the environment and teach others to do the same. They focus on important tasks like recycling, saving energy, and reducing waste. One of their jobs is to look around the school and audit the good things that are already happening, like pupils using recycling bins or teachers turning off lights after class. They also come up with ideas on how to make positive changes, like making bird houses and providing food for the birds.  By sharing ideas about environmental issues, eco-warriors help everyone understand the importance of making greener choices. Thanks to them, our school will become better at protecting the planet for the future.

At Lainesmead, our Eco-Warriors play an active role in promoting sustainable travel and safer streets through our partnership with Living Streets. Each morning, they carry out a travel survey to monitor how children are getting to school, encouraging walking, cycling, and scooting as healthy, eco-friendly alternatives to car travel. To celebrate and motivate participation, children who walk to school are awarded special badges they can collect throughout the year. The Eco-Warriors also take part in regular surveys to assess road safety and traffic conditions around the school, helping to raise awareness and support improvements in our local environment. Their efforts are making a real difference in creating a safer, greener, and more active school community.

Working Together for a Greener Future

At Lainesmead Primary and Nursery School, we care deeply about our planet and want to help protect it for future generations. That’s why we’re creating a Climate Action Plan—our way of making the school more eco-friendly and teaching children how to look after the environment.

We’re doing lots of exciting things, like planting trees, saving energy, recycling more, and encouraging children to walk, cycle, or scoot to school. Our pupils are at the heart of this work—they take part in eco-projects, help with surveys, and share brilliant ideas to make our school greener.

We also know how important it is to work together. Whether it’s walking to school, reducing waste at home, or talking about climate change, every small step makes a big difference.

Together, we’re building a cleaner, safer, and happier world—one step at a time.
