Year 4 Parents – we'd love to see you today! A reminder that our Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) Parent Workshop is taking place today. We've offered three different session times, so hopefully there's one that works for you: * 8:45am–9:20am * 2:45pm–3:20pm * 6:00pm–6:15pm The workshop is a chance to find out more about the MTC, how it works and, importantly, how you can support your child at home. The morning and afternoon sessions also include some time to explore resources alongside your child. School Hall No need to book – just turn up! If you have a child in Year 4, we'd really love to see you at whichever session suits you best.

Understanding the new Ofsted framework As many of you will know, Lainesmead welcomed Ofsted into school a couple of weeks ago and we are currently awaiting the publication of our inspection report. Ofsted inspections now take place under a new inspection framework and the way schools are evaluated and the information presented to parents has changed. We've come across this helpful short video which explains the new approach really clearly, so we thought it would be useful to share with our families ahead of receiving our report. It gives a good overview of what the new framework looks at, how the new report cards work and what the different evaluation areas mean. We'll of course share our full Ofsted report with our school community as soon as we are able to do so. In the meantime, we hope you find this useful in understanding the new inspection process and what you can expect to see when our report is published.

Flu Vaccinations – Reception to Year 6 A reminder that children in Reception through to Year 6 are being offered their annual flu vaccination this term. The vaccination helps protect children against flu and also helps reduce the spread of flu to more vulnerable family members and others in the community. All parents/carers need to complete the consent form, whether you wish to ACCEPT or DECLINE the vaccination for your child. It should take less than five minutes to complete. The nasal spray contains a small amount of porcine gelatine. If your child cannot have the nasal spray for medical reasons, or you do not wish them to receive a vaccine containing gelatine, you can request an alternative injected vaccine which contains no gelatine or other animal products when completing the consent form. Primary-aged children who require the injected vaccine will be offered an appointment at a community clinic rather than receiving it in school. Even if your child received the flu vaccination last year, it is recommended that they receive it again this year as the flu viruses circulating can change each winter.
