Young Carers at Lainesmead Primary School

At Lainesmead Primary School, we believe that every child has the right to an education, whatever their home circumstances.

We recognise that some of our pupils may be Young Carers, children who help look after a family member with an illness, disability, or other challenges and we understand that this responsibility can sometimes affect their education and wellbeing.

We are committed to supporting our Young Carers. At Lainesmead, we hold regular meetings where Young Carers can meet others in similar situations, enjoy a range of activities, and access a safe space to talk and have fun, supported by trusted staff members.

Our Young Carer Leads are Mrs Jarrett and Mrs Mann, who are available to offer advice, support, and a listening ear.

For more information about support for Young Carers, please visit:

To view our Young Carers Policy, please visit: Young Carer's Policy

If you think your child may be a Young Carer, or if you would like to find out more about the support available, please contact Mrs Jarrett or Mrs Mann via the school office.
