Ethos and Beliefs
At Lainesmead Primary, we believe that all children should have access to good quality music education and singing every week. We believe that music is a truly inclusive subject that transcends economic and academic boundaries and that is a huge benefit on the wellbeing of our children.
Our aims include
- A consistent and well-balanced approach to music education across the school.
- To ensure that all children perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians.
- To ensure that all children learn to sing and use their own voices to create music in unison and ensemble with others and have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and read notation.
- To ensure all children understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including though the interrelated dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate notations
